My daughter took her first steps on her first birthday which landed on Friday 13th! A date to celebrate by watching this week’s latest installment of who’s who and what’s what in Marbella.
This week we go to Puerto Banus to visit one of the first and undoubtedly amongst the most emblematic art galleries, The Sammery Gallery.
We meet the gallery’s name sake Sam Benady and art enthusiast since childhood, we get to peruse some of the captivating art-work, and chat to other guests who popped in:
Our CIT Marbella guest of the week brings us the opportunity to meet a really nice guy, Ali of III Language Schools. As head of the English language department at the school and employe of over 25 years, he explains the ethos and ethics of this family business over the past 3 decades, their growth and achievements; their unique teaching systems and the many languages on offer, including Spanish, English, Russian, German, Chinese to name a few.
A very interactive learning system with several convenient locations in the municipality.
Plus, with all the talk about Expats becoming Spanish nationals following the Brexit vote, you should watch the show to find out about the Spanish language exams you’ll need to take! You might be calling III sooner than you think!
Meet Evgeniy Kobylyanskiy, one of Russia’s most emblematic musicians, having performed in the Kremlin concert hall, worked with musicians such as Joe Cocker, Cyndi Lauper, Billy Joel and Ernestine Anderson and written, produced and launched some of the country’s most famous singers, Tamara Gverdziteli, Grigoriy Leps, Michail Schufutinskiy and Irina Alegrova to name but a few.
In 2008 Evgeniy wrote a cover of “Hey You” in the name of Roger Waters, the keyboard player of Pink Floyd and is the only multi-instrumentalist who uses psychoacoustic elements in his music.
On this week’s show we get to hear about his latest protegée, Lada; the songs he’s written for her and a look at her music video, also produced and directed by Evgeniy.
Rowan Litchfield, student at Laude International School in San Pedro brings us a summary of sign language words learnt last year and a new one for this week’s show! So take good note!!
Lily Van Tongeren introduces us to 2 month old ·Billy Jean – you just have to see his outfit!! (and adopt him too hopefully). Triple A animal rescue centre and shelter needs our support more than ever due to the loss of much needed income due to the scandalous presentation of the investigation in-hand. They are however, running and working AS ALWAYS, so as nothing changed, except they have even less in-come, as a community it is our obligation to be extra aware and make an extra effort.
Blankets, bleach, towels, washing powder, office supplies, dog food, there are so many things we can help with, as well as helping to walk dogs on Saturdays, help raise funds and donate what we can, whether it be time or the much needed money.
If you find a lost or stray dog or cat you need to contact Sanidad – but ensure they take the animal to Triple A if you want to ensure the animal is not sacrificed after just 10 days in case of not being claimed. You need to cal SANIDAD: 952 791 187 – after 3pm call 952 899 900 ask for SANIDAD
For all other animals, ie., birds with hurt wings, including sea-gulls, even exotic creatures then you need to contact the Specialised Exotic Animal clinic in Estepona, Albatros (Blue-Bird) Address: Calle Ibiza, 5, 29680 Estepona, Málaga Phone: 952 80 60 64
Whilst at the port we take a moment to chat with Sandrine, Pablo & Annemiek of Sun-Tri Marbella about the ever increasing tourist market for cyclists and even serious triathlon athletes – and for next week’s show, you never know, they might even bring their bikes!
Gonzalo Torquemada, Child & Youth Councillor and Author Colin Turner bring us helpful tips for a better quality of daily life, in the community spirit and leading up to our open and 100% interactive forum at the United Nationalities Marbella Summit 2017 on 25th April.
Our Linea Directa sponsored safety spot covers alcohol limits for cyclists – you might be more than a little surprised – plus the local Town Hall plan by our Movility and Sustainability councillor, Miguel Diaz, regarding the further introduction of bicycle paths throughout the municipality. Having already introduced over 10kms in 2016 Mr. Diaz firmly believes that not only will this help reduce traffic pollution but will also attract a greener more health conscious tourist to Marbella.
